Thailand to produce 12,000 cyber security experts by 2021

Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - The Electronic Transactions DevelopmentAgency (ETDA) and leading institutions in the country have bandedtogether to develop cyper security personnel for the Thailand 4.0digital era. 

DeputyExecutive Director of the ETDA Chaichana Mitrpant has signed amemorandum of understanding on IT human resource development withrepresentatives of Thammasat University, Mahidol University, theUniversity of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Kasetsart University. 

The signatories plan to produce 12,000 specialists in cyber security within four years.A target of 1,000 specialists has been set for 2018. In Thailand, thereare more than 3,000 cases of computer-related crimes, most of whichoccur to computer systems and internet users. The risk of online scamsgrows alongside the expansion of online business activities. 

ಌ Sinceearly this year, the ETDA has been organising workshops on cybersecurity for more than 300 personnel. The number of internet crimebusters has yet to meet the market demand. It is estimated that around3.5 million cyber security experts will be in demand worldwide by 2021.-VNA
