Bangkok (VNA) – Thailand's National Electronics andComputer Technology Centre (Nectec) has pledged to provide enough platforms andtools for Thai startups to develop their artificial intelligence (AI).
This is part of the country's ambitious plan to thrive as adigital economy.
Nectec Executive Director Chai Wutitiwatchai said that it aimsto provide all Thais, particularly engineers, and developers involved with AI,with affordable space and the necessary tools to create their innovations andtechnologies in the AI field.
The move is also an important step towards transforming allpublic departments and related agencies to become digital service providers.
While current infrastructures in Thailand, such as theelectricity system, internet access, 5G network, cloud service, and datacentre, are ready for the country's transformation to a digital economy andsociety, Thailand still lacks some indicators that could propel the countrytowards its digital goal, he said.
These indicators include skilled AI engineers, integrated datasharing, and its developed technologies, he added.
Chai Wutitiwatchai said that the country is now overly relianton international technologies. That is extremely dangerous in terms of botheconomic stability and national security.
Aside from collaboration with educational institutions, Nectechas already established a platform called AI Thailand.
