Hanoi (VNA) – Thailand remains the world’s largest rice exporter,said president of the Rice Exporters Association of Thailand CharoenLaothammathat on September 1.

He revealed that Thailand exported 6.41 million tonnes of rice in the firstseven months of 2017 to secure its leading position.

Thailand is followed by India and Vietnam in terms of rice export volumerespectively, he added.

Earlier the same day, the Thai government approved 2.2 billion USD in loans andaid to farmers to help stabilise rice prices.-VNA
