Thailand promotes trade in CLMV countries

Thai Minister of Commerce Apiradi Tantraporn recently directed the Department of International Trade Promotion, Department of Foreign Trade and provincial trade offices to support trade promotion activities in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV) and their emerging markets.

Bangkok (VNA) – Thai Minister of Commerce Apiradi Tantrapornrecently directed the Department of International Trade Promotion, Departmentof Foreign Trade and provincial trade offices to support trade promotionactivities in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (CLMV) and their emergingmarkets.

Thai brands will enter CLMV markets through the organisation of trade fairs andexhibitions. The Thai Ministry of Commerce and relevant units will organise aline-up of activities to connect Thai businesses with their partners inneighbouring countries.

The ministry will continue its successful projects including the YoungEntrepreneur Network Development Programme (YEN-D) which aims to link youngsuccessful businesses in the CLMV and Thailand. To date, some 800 youngbusinesses join in the project and generate some 2.5 billion THB (1 USD = 33THB) from trading activities.

From October 2016 to July 2017, numerous Thai businesses entered second-classcities in ASEAN, China, India, Russia and South Africa and earned over 6billion THB.

Earlier, the Thai Ministry of Commerce organised five fairs to introduce thecountry’s top brands to Siem Reap and Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Yangon (Myanmar),Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Vientiane (Laos).-VNA
