Bangkok (VNA) - The central banks of Thailand and Malaysia launched a cross-border QR payment linkage to enable consumers and merchants in both countriesto make and receive instant QR code payments.

The move is the first phase in linking the real-time retailpayment systems of Malaysia’s RPP/DuitNow and Thailand’s PromptPay.

Users in Thailand can now use mobile payment apps to scanDuitNow QR codes to make payments for merchants in Malaysia.

In the second phase,expected in the fourth quarter of 2021, users in Malaysia can do the same withThailand.

♐ The final phase, scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2020, will allow both parties to carryout real-time fund transfers./.
