Thailand: Govt’s handling of economy mostly worries public

Most Thai citizens have expressed concern over the handling of economy among five issues facing the Prayut Chan-ocha government, according to a recent survey conducted by Dusit University.

Bangkok (VNA) - Most Thai citizens have expressed concern over the handling of economy amongfive issues facing the Prayut Chan-ocha government, according to a recent surveyconducted by Dusit University.

Of 1,167 people surveyed across the country during April 17-21, almost88 percent were worried about the government’s failure to tackle economicissues.

They suggested the government recruit leading economic experts to tackle theissue, and take more measures to boost the national economy.

Corruption was second on the list of concerns with almost 77 percentsaying that this still remained widespread, especially in government projects.

Political conflicts were third, and almost 71 percent thoughtthe government had failed to promote reconciliation in the country.

Meanwhile, about 65 percent expressed their concern about law enforcement,especially the absolute power of Prime Minister Prayut under Article 44 of the 2014interim constitution of Thailand.-VNA
