Bangkok (VNA/NNT) – The Thai Ministry of Transport has raised security measures to the maximum level at all a🎐irports in the country in wake of a recent incident in Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.

Minister of Transport Arkhom Termpittayapaisith revealed that security measures have been raised to the 3rd level at all airports after the suicide bombings and gunfire incident at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport on June 28 night, which resulted in at least 41 deaths and 239 injuries.
He stated that all agencies working at airports, especially security personnel, will be working together to provide strict security protection, while security measures at all bus and railway stations have also been heightened. Meanwhile, Bangkok Don Mueang International Airport on June 29 held an annual full-scale emergency drill overseen by Airports of Thailand (AOT), with the mock situation of a bomb threat discovered on an aircraft.
Don Mueang Airport Director Petch Chancharoen said the drill was carried out as a requirement from the Civil Aviation Commission, in compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)’s standards and suggestions, which require airports to hold emergency drill every year. The drill was also organised to maintain the airport’s security and safety standards to be on par with international levels. It will be evaluated in order to help further enhance the airport’s emergency plan, according to the airport director.-VNA
