Washington D.C. (VNA/NNT) - The Thai Prime Minister has met with the US President to seek mutual cooperation on various fronts.

Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha and his wife Naraporn Chan-o-cha arrived at the White House on October 2, where they were greeted by US President Donald Trump and the First Lady, Melania Trump.

General Prayut offered his sincere condolences to President Trump over the recent hurricane incidents, expressing his confidence that the United States, under the leadership of President Trump, would move past all crises smoothly.

The meeting underlined the strong and long standing relations between Thailand and the US, which would reach the bicentennial anniversary next year. The two leaders underlined new threats against regional security and their prevention measures. They also talked about trade and investments, with a highlight on increasing trade values between the two countries.

After the meeting and a conference between Thai and US officials, authorities from both sides agreed to increase their efforts to instill peace and stability in the Asia Pacific Region, and in combating human trafficking. The Thai Premier has invited Ivanka Trump, an advisor to President Trump, to visit the Kingdom and observe the nation’s efforts in dealing with human trafficking.

As for trade and investments, the Thai delegates asked their American counterparts to provide more support to Thai investors and in purchasing Thai agricultural products.-VNA/NNT
