Thai Nguyen (VNA) – The Asian Muay Thai Championship 2025 is scheduled to take place in the northern province of Thai Nguyen from June 20 to 2ꦫ6, gathering nearly 400 athletes, coaches, and referees from 25 countries and territories.

This marks the first time Vietnam has hosted a continental-level Muay event. The championship will feature competitions across 28 weight categories in combat and eight performance categories, organisers announced at a press conference on June 16.
The Vietnamese team will include 50 athletes, six of whom are from the host province of Thai Nguyen. Tu Thi Le Na, head of Muay Thai at the Sports Authority of Vietnam under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, described the tournament as a great honour for Vietnam and a clear recognition of the sport’s rising profile on the international stage. She expressed her hope that the national team will perform well on the home ground and continue to enhance its reputation.
Following the Asian Championship, Vietnamese athletes are set to participate in the World Games in Chengdu, China, this August; the Youth Muay Thai Championships in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in September; and the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand in December. Nguyen Van Ngoc, Director of the Thai Nguyen Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the province has made thorough and professional preparations to meet international standards, ensuring adequate infrastructure, security, healthcare, and logistical support. He added that the event offers a valuable opportunity to promote Thai Nguyen as a youthful, dynamic, and culturally rich destination while also showcasing its progress in education, tourism, sports, and technology./.
