The northern province of Thai Nguyen is striving to develop Thai Nguyen city as a catalyst for its development, at the cost of 100 million USD, including 1.8 trillion VND (77.5 million USD) in loans from the World Bank.

Thai Nguyen (VNA) – Thenorthern province of Thai Nguyen is striving to develop Thai Nguyen city as a catalystfor its development, at the cost of 100 million USD, including 1.8 trillion VND(77.5 million USD) in loans from the World Bank.

Vu Thi Bich Thuy, Vice Chairwomanof the municipal People’s Committee, said the objectives of the project are to completethe city’s infrastructure system to adapt to climate change and improve theenvironmental sanitation, thus optimising its economic potential and boosting itssocio-economic growth.

Components of the project includethe construction of Bac Nam street, Huong Thuong bridge, and Huong Thuong-ChuaHang road; and the upgrading of roads in Dong Bam residential area, Dan bridge,and Le Huu Trac street.

Huong Son kindergarten will bebuilt, along with the upgrading of Phan Dinh Phung kindergarten. The drainagesystem of Xuong Rong and Mo Bach canals will also be improved.

Meanwhile, the public transportand irrigation systems will be developed, along with the environmentalmonitoring system.

Currently, the design work andfinancial estimates have been finalised for the first phase of the project,while biding plans are being considered by the World Bank so the project can bestarted in the third quarter of 2019 and completed in 2023.

Since 2015, Thai Nguyen city hasimplemented 12 works with a cost of 80.5 million USD funded by the World Bankwithin the programme to support urban development in northern mountainous areasin the 2015-2020 period. The programme has shown its efficiency, helping to improveeconomic growth and social security of the benefited localities.-VNA
