Tay Ninh (VNA)🅺 – The southern province of Tay Ninh on November 26 announced the firstZika infection case.
The patient is awoman in the border district of Ben Cau. She was found to suffer fever and rashfor days and her blood sample was taken by Cu Chi district General Hospital, HoChi Minh City, and sent to the Pasteur Institute. After the Instituteaffirmed the patient is positive for Zika, the provincial People’s Committeeguided agencies to zone off the patient’s residential area and spray chemicals,along with alerting local people to take preventive measures. Recently, theprovincial health sector and authorised agencies have rolled out a number ofpreventive and control measures against Zika, including calling on locals tokill mosquitoes and mosquito larvae.-VNA
The Ho Chi Minh City Health Department has instructed the building of a procedure for receiving and curing Zika-infected cases, particularly pregnantones.
Vietnam may see more Zika cases because community immunity to the mosquito-borne Zika virus is still low, particularly in central, southern and Central Highland provinces.
