Tay Ninh promotes economic, trade ties with Cambodian provinces

Tay Ninh (VNA) – The People’s Committee of the southwestern border province of Tay Ninh organised a conference on June 24 to review cooperation with the Cambodian provinces of Svay Rieng and Prey Veng during the 2018 – 2023 priod.
On this occasion, the committee signed cooperation agreements with the administrations of the Cambodian provinces for 2024 – 2029.
Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Tay Ninh provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Ngoc affirmed that Tay Ninh always considers enhancing its comprehensive cooperation with the Cambodian localities a top priority, especially in economy, trade, culture, sports, and border security and order.
Such practical activities have contributed to strengthening solidarity between the two countries, and enhancing their friendship and collaboration in a more intensive and sustainable way, he said.
The official expressed his belief that the new documents will create favourable conditions for the sides to step up comprehensive cooperation and gain more achievements in the time ahead.
Svay Rieng Governor Peng Posa said the documents demonstrate the localities’ determination to advance their cooperation, adding the agreements will enable them to decide new core mechanisms, thus promoting collaboration more firmly, fully and comprehensively.
He lauded Tay Ninh’s border authorities, armed forces and competent agencies for their efforts and coordination with Svay Rieng, helping to boost friendship and cooperation between the two localities.
For his part, Prey Veng Governor Suon Somalin held that in the spirit of friendship and fraternity, the two countries have worked to consolidate, expand and upgrade their relationship, for the sake of their people.
Statistics showed that during the 2018 – 2023 period, trade between Tay Ninh and Svay Rieng reached 2.65 billion USD, and the exchange of goods between their border residents was worth 99.54 million USD.
