Moscow (VNA)🐓 – Director General of Russia’s TASS news agency Andrei Olegovich Kondrashov has praised the partnership between the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and its Russian counterpart as a model of effective cooperation founded on mutual respect and professionalism.

The two agencies have built a robust information bridge fostering peace, mutual understanding and cultural exchange between the two peoples, Kondrashov said, noting they have enjoyed a close relationship since the 1950s, with their first cooperation agreement signed in 1958. This year marks two major milestones: the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025) and the 80th anniversary of VNA’s establishment as the national news agency (September 15, 1945 – 2025). Speaking to a VNA correspondent in Russia on this occasion, Kondrashov reflected on the enduring partnership, its key milestones, and its role in strengthening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Russia.
That partnership was reaffirmed in June, when VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang, at the invitation of TASS, attended a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and the heads of leading global news agencies. Responding to Trang's question on Vietnam–Russia relations, President Putin underlined that the traditional friendship between the two countries has remained steadfast over years. In light of the flourishing comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia, the TASS–VNA relationship has taken on greater importance, continuing to grow both bilaterally and within regional and international press forums. Kondrashov affirmed that ties with VNA represent one of TASS’s most successful and effective foreign partnerships. A highlight of their cooperation lies with joint photo exhibitions capturing historic moments of both nations. These exhibitions have resonated widely with the public, been praised by the leaders of both countries, and become a symbol of shared respect for history. Such initiatives, he noted, not only strengthen professional bonds but also inspire younger generations of journalists to carry forward the best traditions.
Over the years, VNA and TASS have run exchange programmes for reporters and editors, enabling staff to gain insights into modern journalism, visit key government institutions, and better understand each other’s history and culture. The two agencies also work closely within major international press organisations. Kondrashov expressed gratitude to VNA for supporting TASS’s election as President of the Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), stressing his confidence that VNA, as a member of the OANA Executive Board, will continue making valuable contributions. Kondrashov likened the cooperation between TASS and VNA to a great ancient tree, deeply rooted and constantly nourished by shared values and aspirations. He voiced confidence that new achievements await both agencies, further illuminating the path of Vietnam–Russia friendship./.
