HCM City (VNA) 🌸- Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City is gearing up for an unprecedented surge in both flights and passengers during the 2025 Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.
Between January 22 and 28 (23rd-29th day of the last lunar month), the airport expects 820-900 flights daily, with a peak of 901 on January 23.
Passenger volume can reach up to 150,000 on the busiest days before the holiday, up 12.7% year-on-year.
After the holiday, daily flights are projected to remain high, reaching 917 on February 2, with over 155,000 passengers anticipated, a 4% rise compared to last year.
To meet the growing demand, domestic airlines have increased their fleets, adding 14 aircraft to bring the total to 212.
Measures such as extended operating hours and additional slots have been implemented, with the airport offering up to 48 flights per hour during peak times. Domestic carriers, including Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air, are also ramping up night flights.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has coordinated with airports and airlines to ensure smooth operations, including 24/7 service at key regional airports and optimised infrastructure and resources.
Passengers are advised to stay informed about their flights and follow safety regulations to avoid disruptions.
The CAAV will continue monitoring operations to address any issues promptly, aiming to ensure safe and efficient travel during the holiday period./.
