Students, young researchers receive Odon Vallet scholarships

As many as 156 Vietnamese students and young researchers, who had good performance in their studies, have been awarded Odon Vallet scholarships.
As many as 156 Vietnamese students and young researchers, who had goodperformance in their studies, have been awarded Odon Valletscholarships.

The scholarships, totalling over 2 billion VND(95,240 USD), were presented by Prof. Odon Vallet and Prof. Tran ThanhVan at a ceremony held in the Temple of Literature in Hanoi on August23.

The scholarships are part of a larger 20 billion VNDscholarship programme for 2,250 outstanding students and youngresearchers nationwide. Each student will receive 8 million VND whileresearchers will get 13 million VND each.

Since2000, professors Vallet and Van, who launched the programme MeetingVietnam, have awarded tens of thousands of scholarships to Vietnamesestudents and researchers in order to encourage and support them toovercome difficulties and achieve scholastic success.
Prof.Vallet, a lecturer at France's Sorbonne University, inherited a 120million EUR fortune from his father, which he uses to finance thescholarships for excellent young students in France, Vietnam, andseveral small countries in Africa.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
