Stroke-hit Philippine sailor saved

– The Vietnam MaritimeSearch and Rescue Coordination Centre for Zone 2 in the central coastal city ofDa Nang has helped save the life of a Philippine sailor who had some healthproblems.

On January 16, the centre received the Seaborneagency’s news regarding sailor Eliseo Jr. Burton Estrabon on board the Liberianship Maribor en route from Singapore to China, who suffered a stroke which lefthis left side paralysed.

The centre provided instructions on first aidfor the Philippine sailor via the Seaborne agency and dispatched SAR274 shipand medical workers to bring him ashore.

Later the same day, the sailor was taken to DaNang Vinmec hospital for further treatment.-VNA

“I Love My Country” media campaign launched

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
