State President meets Vietnamese community in China

Beijing (VNA) – 🎉State President Luong Cuong had a meeting with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in China on September 4, on the occasion of his presence at the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the world people's victory over fascism and engagement in bilateral activities in Beijing, China.

The State leader extended his sincere regards and best wishes to all Vietnamese living, studying, and working in China. He briefed the participants on the outcomes of meetings with Chinese leaders, particularly the talks with Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, which focused on strengthening political trust between the two sides, expanding cooperation across sectors, addressing obstacles, maximising common ground, and managing differences to promote peace, cooperation, and development. President Cuong noted that the Party has recently issued particularly important resolutions, laying the groundwork for the country to truly take off and enter a new era of development. He commended the staff of Vietnam's Embassy and representative offices in China for their great efforts in overcoming difficulties to successfully fulfil the tasks assigned by the Party and State, particularly in political and foreign affairs, economic and cultural diplomacy, supporting Vietnamese communities abroad, and safeguarding sea and island sovereignty.

He praised he solidarity and determination of the Vietnamese community in China, highlighting their active contribution to strengthening the friendship as comrades plus brothers between Vietnam and China, and projecting a friendly and approachable image of the Vietnamese people to both local and international friends. For relations with China, President Cuong affirmed that Vietnam consistently regards developing ties with China as an objective necessity, a strategic choice, and a top priority, in line with the nation’s fundamental and long-term interests. He emphasised that this relationship is a key factor in creating a favourable environment for Vietnam to achieve its development aspirations and goals by 2030 and 2045.
He stated that the top leaders of the two Parties and countries have reached a common perceptions on the need to promote unity and cooperation, further strengthen and deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and advance the Vietnam – China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance. To further strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries, he urged the Embassy to effectively carry out its political and diplomatic duties; prioritise building and consolidating political trust; ensure Vietnam–China relations develop steadily, sustainably, and substantively; and closely monitor developments in the host country to provide timely advice to the Party and State. In addition, the State President emphasised the need to effectively carry out economic diplomacy, focusing on serving the people and businesses; continue promoting cultural diplomacy, people-to-people exchanges, and consular affairs; and protect the legitimate rights and interests of the Vietnamese community in China.
According to Ambassador Pham Thanh Binh, as many as 100,000 Vietnamese, including about 23,000 students, are currently living and studying across cities and provinces in China. The Vietnamese community in the country remains united, abides by local law, maintains strong ties to their homeland, and supports the policies of the Party and State./.
