An Giang (VNA) – State President Vo Van Thuong and incumbent and former Partyand State leaders paid tribute to President Ton Duc Thang in the southern provinceof An Giang, the home province of the late President, on August 19, on the occasion of the late leader’s 135th birth anniversary (August 20, 1888 - 2023).
The delegationwas joined by former Presidents Nguyen Minh Triet, Truong Tan Sang, and NguyenXuan Phuc; and former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, among others. Party GeneralSecretary Nguyen Phu Trong sent a tribute wreath.
At thetemple in the memorial site dedicated to Ton Duc Thang in My Hoa Hung commune ofLong Xuyen city, they offered incense and observed a minute of silence in commemorationof the late President, who was among the first generation of the workers’ and proletarianrevolutionary movements in Vietnam and devoted his entire life to the people’s nationaldemocratic revolution and the socialist revolution.
Duringhis revolutionary career, in any positions, Thang always set a brilliantexample of a true communist and revolutionary morality. He founded the “Red Union” to meet the urgent need of the fighting movement of the Vietnameseworking class in the first decades of the 20th century. He was also asymbol of the southern people in the struggle for national independence as wellas the national construction and safeguarding.
The sameday, President Thuong visited and offered congratulations to the An Giangpolice on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the traditionalday of the People’s Public Security (August 19, 1945 - 2023)./.
A ceremony was held in Long Xuyen city, the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, where President Ton Duc Thang was born, to pay tribute to the late Vietnamese leader on the occasion of his 42nd death anniversary on March 16.
The “Le khao le the linh Hoang Sa” (Feast and Commemoration Festival for Hoang Sa Soldiers) took place at An Vinh communal house in Ly Son district, the central province of Quang Ngai, on May 5 or 16th days of the third lunar month.
