Spring book street opens in Hanoi

The spring book street opened in December 19 street, Hanoi, on February 18 (the third day of the Lunar New Year), introducing books of different genres to visitors.

Hanoi (VNA) – The spring book street opened inDecember 19 street, Hanoi, on February 18 (the third day of the Lunar NewYear), introducing books of different genres to visitors.

Apart from existing 16 stalls, other publishing houses alsodisplayed publications.

A space for New Year newspapers and calligraphy is also madeavailable. Visitors will have a chance to receive free calligraphy writings.

Proceeds from selling New Year newspapers will be given toschool libraries and communal post stations in poor and remote areas.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of themunicipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said the event is expected to start aseries of activities in the Hanoi book street this year, contributing to makingit closer to book lovers in the capital.

Following the ceremony, the book “The Emperor” by Polishjournalist Ryszard Kapuscinski debuted.

Poem recitals, dialogues with painters and writers, folkgames were also held.

A number of stalls offered gifts, lucky draws and money tovisitors.-VNA
