HCMCity (VNA) - The 15th Southern FruitFestival kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on June 1, featuring a wide range offruits.
The three-month event is being jointly organised by the municipalDepartments of Tourism, Trade and Industry and Agriculture and RuralDevelopment.
The event offers visitors a chance to buy safe fruits at prices 20-30 percent cheaper than that on the market.
ViceDirector of the municipal Department of Tourism Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa said visitors to the festival can tour a garden boastingexotic fruits grown in different parts of the country and a floating marketselling ripe fruits.
The festival aims tohounour and preserve the culture of the southern region in particular and Vietnamin general, she stressed.
An art performance programm, a fruitprocession, exhibitions of foods made from fruits, shows to make sculptures from fruits, and a competition for the bestfruits, among others, are also included in the framework of the event, sheadded.
Hundreds of unique fruits in the southern region are being sold at a 10-day fruit festival that opened in the Suoi Tien area of Ho Chi Minh City’s District 9 on June 1.
Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh has instructed the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) to coordinate with other ministries, agencies and localities to effectively implement policies and directives from the Party, Government, and Prime Minister on tourism development.

Khanh Hoa has welcomed 16 international cruises so far this year, with more than 19,000 tourists disembarking to explore the province’s scenic landscapes and renowned cultural, religious, and artistic landmarks, as well as to enjoy local cuisine and sightseeing tours.
