Soc Trang (VNA) – The People’s Committee of southern Soc Trang province has decided to establish a primary-secondary boarding school in My Xuye🐈n district to enable more Khmer ethnic pupils to attend classes.

The 12-classroom Thanh Phu boarding school is equipped with modern facilities, including three labs, computer rooms, and a library.
With classes for primary and secondary school students, the Thanh Phu school offers more education choices to Khmer children in My Xuyen district and neighbouring localities from the 2016-17 academic year. It also has a boarding area, accommodating more than 400 teachers, students and staffers.
Vice principal Duong Sa Phol said teachers will have to work harder here as the educational level is not equal among ethnic minority students. Besides full-time classes, teachers will also concentrate on helping students with social skills, the vice principal said. Soc Trang is home to around 400,000 Khmer ethnic people, who account for 30.7 percent of the province’s population.-VNA
