The Government of Myanmar’s armed forces willcontinue implementing measures to ensure security and stability in theportions of the Kokang region still experiencing armed clashes, Tun Oosaid.

He also said that 54 of his soldiers losttheir lives with another 100 injured, and about 72 members of the Kokangarmy died during the fighting.

A 90-day state ofemergency was declared in Kokang on February 17 by the government afterheavy fighting first broke out on February 9.

Morethan 30,000 people fled to neighboring China or other regions inMyanmar after the army launched a heavy onslaught against therebels.-VNA
