Singaporeans exempted from Malaysia digital arrival card process

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysian Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution saidon December 5 that Singaporeans travelling to Malaysia will not be required tofill up the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC), which will otherwise becompulsory from January 1 for foreign travellers.
Saifuddin said at a press conference at Kuala Lumpur International Airport thatsome Singaporeans enter Malaysia almost on a daily basis, and it is morerealistic for Malaysia to exempt them.
Other travellers exempted include diplomatic passport holders, Malaysianpermanent residents, Brunei General Certificate of Identity holders, and ThailandBorder Pass holders.
Malaysia’s two border crossings with Singapore are among thebusiest in the world, with some 135 million transits via the crossing eachyear, a figure that is expected to increase to 150 million in 2026, saidSaifuddin.
Malaysia is expecting towelcome 7.8 million visits by Singaporean tourists in 2023. Singapore iscurrently the highest contributor to tourist arrivals in Malaysia, with morethan 4.5 million recorded up during January - July 2023.
Earlier, Malaysiaannounced its visa-free entry policy for citizens of China and India for staysof up to 30 days, starting from December 1, so as to promote tourism andeconomic growth./.
