Singaporean minister looks to sci-tech, workforce training cooperation with Vietnam

Singapore (VNA) – Singaporean Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean expressed his hope for Vietnam-Singapore cooperation in science, technology and human resources training at his meeting with visiting Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam on March 12.

At the meeting, the Party leader praised Singapore’s visionary leadership and impressive achievements in science, technology, digital transformation, and smart nation development, which have turned the country into a leading regional and global hub for science-technology and education-training.
He recommended that Singapore share its expertise with Vietnam in smart urban management, advanced technology, and startup support, while connecting Vietnamese enterprises with markets in the region and the world.

For his part, Teo welcomed the Vietnamese Party chief’s official visit in his new role, saying the trip offers an opportunity to further deepen bilateral ties. He said the fresh upgrade of Vietnam-Singapore relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership marked a historic milestone in the two nations' relationship.

The minister also took the occasion to praise Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements during its reform process and sci-tech breakthroughs.

Both sides agreed on orientations for future cooperation, including strengthening collaboration in such key areas as science-technology, and innovation.

They said it is necessary to train and develop their human resources through exchanges of students, researchers, and experts between Vietnamese institutions and the National University of Singapore.

They also encouraged the establishment of research and development (R&D) c𓄧entres and the investments ofꦫ Singaporean technology firms in Vietnam./.
