Singapore (VNA) - Singaporean Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng highlighted the close relationship between Singapore and Vietnam, while addressing a ceremony held by the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore on September 19 evening to mark Vietnam’s 79th National Day (September 2).

He emphasised the three key aspects that Vietnam and Singapore are focusing on to enhance cooperation, namely human resources development, economic and investment relations, and strategic partnership. Specifically, Singapore is a leading supporter of Vietnam's human resources development through initiatives like the Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP), the Potential Leaders’ Programme, and the Singapore-Vietnam Connectivity Ministerial Meeting. It is also Vietnam's second-largest foreign investor, contributing significantly to industrial and commercial zones, and creating hundreds of thousands of jobs.

Meanwhile, the emphasis on strengthening bilateral relations and the strategic partnership particularly spotlights the renewable energy sector, through joint ventures, technical cooperation, and carbon credits, as well as enhancing regional collaboration to improve energy development capabilities and support sustainable development.

The minister also stressed the importance of supporting ASEAN and international law, and committing to a peaceful and prosperous Southeast Asia.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador Mai Phuoc Dung said that after 79 years of national building and defence, Vietnam has emerged as a middle-income country with a stable and strong political system, and a new image and position on the international stage.

In its relations with Singapore, the two counties enjoy a robust, substantive, and effective cooperation across various areas, reflected through the upgrade of their bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2023.

Within the multilateral framework, Vietnam and Singapore have closely collaborated with other ASEAN countries and partners to promote ASEAN's unity and centrality in꧙ regional issues, and in building a safe𝓡 and stable regional and international order based on the principles of international law./.
