The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said on April 7 that the country now accounts for one-third of the world’s cruise travellers, attributing this to the success of its “cruises to nowhere” at a time the industry has still been struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic globally.

Cruise services have yet to be resumed in many partsof the world after some big outbreaks were found on cruise ships last year.
In November 2020, Singapore launched what it called"round trips" on luxury liners which have no port of call and last foronly a few days.
STB said Singapore’s cruises are currently open onlyto its 5.7 million residents, who have been unable to leave the city-state forleisure due to the pandemic.
The cruises recorded about 120,000 passengers and runat lower capacity as a result of stringent health protocols, according to theboard./.
