Singapore suspends all overseas exercises due to COVID-19
The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) will suspend all large-scale overseas exercises, including Exercise Wallaby, this year due to the ongoing coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) said in a news release on May 12.

Inaugurated in 1990, Exercise Wallaby is the SAF's largest overseasexercise and is held at the Shoalwater Bay Training Area in Queensland,Australia.
MINDEF said bilateral ties between Singapore and Australia continue to bestrong. It added that it appreciates the "strong support" ofthe Australian government, the Australian Department of Defence,Australian Defence Force and the local communities of Rockhampton andLivingstone Shire for the SAF training there over the years.
"When conditions improve, Singapore may continue with smaller-scaletraining activities in Australia, in full compliance with their safetyrequirements to prevent the spread of disease," the ministry said./.
