Singapore (VNA) – Singapore Internation൲al Cyber Week 2024 (SIℱCW 2024) is underway in the city-state on October 14 with theme “Building Trust and Security in the Emerging Digital Order”.

Taking place from October 14-17, the SICW 2024 focuses on fostering key dialogues and partnerships to build trust and enhance security in the digital and cyber fields amid a fragmented global landscape. Speaking at the event, Singapore's Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean highlighted the rising frequency and severity of cyberattacks, with global ransomware payments surpassing 1 billion USD in 2023. He emphasised the need for trust in digital technology to fully benefit from its potential for social and economic innovation.
The minister called for international cooperation to address shared challenges and urged for building digital resilience beyond cybersecurity, emphasising the need to manage risks from emerging technologies. The event attracted global leaders, cybersecurity experts, and solution providers. Vietnam’s high-level delegation, led by Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Minh Chinh, held bilateral meetings with key security partners, including the US, Canada, and Russia, on the sidelides of the event.
The Vietnamese delegation is set to participate in the ninth ASEAN Ministerial Conference on Cybersecurity (AMCC) and have bilateral meetings on the sidelides to strengthen cooperation on October 16. Other key events include the SICW 2024 Summit and various policy, technical, and diplomatic discussions. Under the umbrella of the SICW 2024, the GovWare 2024 exhibition also showcases advanced technological solutions, with a focus on critical infrastructure innovation and cybersecurity strategies./.
