Singapore hosts international film festival

The 30th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) kicked off on November 21 night at the Capitol Theatre with the Singapore premiere of the film Wet Season, marking a bountiful line-up of events ahead.
Hanoi (VNA) - The 30th Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF) kicked off onNovember 21 night at the Capitol Theatre with the Singapore premiere of thefilm Wet Season, marking a bountiful line-up of events ahead.

Award-winningSingapore filmmaker Anthony Chen, who directed Wet Season, made his red carpetappearance at the event. He was joined by the rest of the cast of the film,which included actress Yeo Yann Yann, veteran theatre virtuoso Yang Shi Bin,and rising star Koh Jia Ler.

Singaporean DeputyPrime Minister and Minister for Finance Heng Swee Keat attended the event asguest-of-honour.

As a leadinginternational film festival in Southeast Asia, the 30th SGIFF will run fromNovember 21 to December 1.

This year, more than90 films from over 40 countries and territories will be screened during thefestival./.
