The International Conference on Evolving Finance, Trade and Investment in Asia-Policy Dialogue was held in Singapore on September 16. Organised by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, the event saw participation of President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Takehiko Nakao, scholars and economists among others from Asian countries.
Speaking at the event, the ADB President underscored the economic situation and outlook for Asia, as well as responses to policy challenges of Asian developing countries.
He presented eight key conditions for economic development of a country while pledging continued assistance to promote growth and development in the region and the financial institution’s reform efforts to fulfill its role, including enhancing of the lending capacity and streamlining procurement procedures. Participants also shared views and experiences in strengthening regional financial structure in a view to protecting countries from global shock and maximise growth.-VNA
