A Philippine sailor who had fallen ill aboard a Panama-flagged cargo ship was brought ashore for treatment at a hospital in Nha Trang city in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa on April 1 night.

Khanh Hoa (VNA) – A Philippine sailor who had fallen ill aboard a Panama-flagged cargoship was brought ashore for treatment at a hospital in Nha Trang city in thesouth-central province of Khanh Hoa on April 1 night.

The Vietnam MaritimeSearch and Rescue Coordination Centre said on April 2 that 33-year-old FranciscoMenard Loyd Gica was on C. Free Dom ship en route from the Republic of Korea (RoK)to Singapore, when he suffered from symptoms of headache, bellyache, persistentcough and breathing problems.

The centre received arequest for medical assistance from the captain on April 1 evening when theship was navigating through waters about 60 nautical miles east of Nha Trang.

It dispatched ship SAR273for the rescue mission, which brought the man to a local hospital later thesame day./.
