Hanoi (VNA) - Seychelles always considers Vietnam a close friend and wishes the bilateral cooperation will record new development steps, especially in tourism, telecommunications, trade, investment, an fisheries, President Wavel Ramkalawan told Vietnamese Ambassador to Mozambique and Seychelles Pham Hoang Kim.
In a reception for Kim who presented his credentials on April 27, Ramkalawan affirmed that his country always attaches importance to and hopes to further step up friendship cooperation with Vietnam in all fields.
He expressed his admiration for the history of the Vietnamese people's heroic struggle for independence and freedom, and congratulated Vietnam on its impressive socio-economic development achievements and the Southeast Asian country’s growing role and prestige in the international arena.
For his part, Ambassador Kim spoke highly of the role and position of Seychelles in Africa and the world, expressing hí belief that under the leadership of President Ramkalawan, the nation will achieve many new important achievements in national construction and development.
Vietnam always treasures and wants to further promote friendship and cooperation with African countries in general and Seychelles in particular, the diplomat stated.
He took the occasion to conveyed the regards of Vietnamese leaders to President Ramkalawan.
The same day, Ambassador Kim had meetings and working sessions with Vice President Ahmed Afif; Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism Sylvestre Radegonde; the Ministers of the Ministries of Investment, Enterprise and Industry, Fisheries and Marine Economy; and the Governor of Victoria capital and President of the Seychelles Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI).
During the meetings, the two sides agreed on a number of measures to strengthen bilateral relations, especially boosting cooperation in economy, trade and tourism, considering this a priority in the bilateral relations in the coming time.
The Vietnamese diplomat suggested Seychelles create favourable conditions for Vietnam to increase exports that Seychelles needs; and coordinate with Vietnam to complete the legal framework to facilitate bilateral cooperation between the two countries through completing negotiations, signing and ratifying a number of cooperation agreements.
The Seychelles side agreed to continue working closely with Vietnam at international forums, especially he United Nations, and support Vietnam to strengthen ties with the African Union./.
