Seminar seeks to enhance efficiency of external information work
A seminar discussing solutions to improve the efficiency of external information work was organised by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) in both face-to-face and online forms on June 14, connected with 53 locations across the country.

Hanoi (VNA) – A seminar discussing solutions to improve the efficiency ofexternal information work was organised by the Vietnam Union of FriendshipOrganisations (VUFO) in both face-to-face and online forms on June 14, connectedwith 53 locations across the country.
In her opening speech, President of VUFO Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga emphasisedthat the external information and communication work has always been one of thekey political tasks of the union, which is carried out regularly through activities for peace,solidarity and friendship, and international people-to-people cooperation.
VUFO’sexternal information activities have helped update international friends onVietnam’s achievements in socio-economic development, promotion of human rightsand international integration, and the country’s efforts to protect nationalsovereignty over its seas and islands and territorial borders; promote imagesof the land and people of Vietnam; refute misrepresentations about thesituation in Vietnam; contribute to calling for support from internationalfriends and increasing the prestige of the country, she added.
During the seminar, participants focused their discussion on requirements andtasks of the external information work and measures to better the quality andefficiency of external information activities of VUFO.
Addressing the event, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi ThuHang, who is also Director of the ministry’s Department for Press and Information, highlighted the role of external informationin the ministry’s operation, saying that the external information work effectivelyserves political and foreign tasks.
The external information work has contributed to firmly safeguarding Vietnam'ssovereignty, territory, sovereign rights and jurisdiction through raisingawareness and creating high consensus among cadres, Party members and peopleacross the country, and calling for support of people worldwide for Vietnam's legitimaterights and interests, Hang said.
Forhis part, Nguyen Van Hay, Office Chief ofthe Central Steering Committee forExternal Information Service said the external information work is an important taskof the Party's ideological, communication and foreign affairs.
Inthe coming time, the external information work should be renewed in terms ofobjectives, mottos, objects and corresponding tasks, he stressed. /.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Hoang Giang has appreciated important contributions of the Vietnamese representative missions abroad to promoting the image of the nation to the world as well as providing information on the regional and international situations for domestic audience.
A national conference was held in Hanoi on December 23 to review the external information service and communications about seas, islands, border demarcation, marker planting, and land border management in 2021.
More innovations are needed in the external information work, on the basis of scientific-technical advances and digital transformation, heard a conference in Hanoi on February 23.
