Seminar looks to develop film industry

Da Nang (VNA) – The Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) organised a seminar in the central city of Da Nang on July 5, aiming at enhancing international co-production and seeking development solutions for the film industry.

At the event, held within the framework of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival, VFDA President Ngo Phuong Lan stressed that the film industry not only has great potential to contribute to the national economy but also plays an important role in improving local livelihoods.

With a view to creating a high-quality film or TV programme for both Vietnamese and global audience, Vietnam needs to learn experience from countries with well-developed film industry, she said.

Vice Chairman and Head of Asia Pacific for Public Policy and Foreign Affairs at Sony Pictures Entertainment Jared Dougherty shared several solutions that are applicable in Vietnam, ranging from getting funding for films to capitalising on the values of films’ intellectual property

❀ Films and culture are tools that help countries overcome geopolitical and trade challenges, and enhance mutual understanding, he said, adding the Vietnamese film industry is developing strongly, with movies having received warm welcome from the international community./.

Under a draft to amend and supplement the Government's Decree 125/2020/ND-CP on administrative sanctions for violations of tax and invoice regulations, the Ministry of Finance has proposed classifying the failure to issue invoices into five different levels. Infraction levels will correspond to fines of 1 million VND to 80 million VND, depending on the nature and number of invoicing violations.
