Sci-tech festival to be held in Hanoi

The Festival of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) will be organised in Hanoi on May 14-15, announced a press conference in the capital on April 20.

Hanoi (VNA)🌄 - The Festival of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) will be organised in Hanoi on May 14-15, announced a press conference in the capital on April 20.

The festival, part of activities to celebrate the Vietnam Science and Technology Day (May 18), is aimed at bringing science and technology closer to the public and highlighting its role in the socio-economic development, said Le Xuan Dinh, Director of the National Agency for Science and Technology Information.

Themed “Time Machine”, the festival comprising experiments and practices will bring students into a journey from past to future corresponding with the scientific events in the human history, said Dinh, who is also head of the festival’s organising board.

🥀 The lessons are designed to apply knowledge and skills in line with STEM education standards in solving practical problems.

The festival is expected to be multiplied in other provinces and cities, with the aim of spreading STEM education and helping nurture and inspire the passion for science and technology among students nationwide.-VNA

The resumption of the programme after years of suspension carries considerable significance for the nation’s development in a new era as it strives to gradually reduce and ultimately phase out coal-fired power to realise the Government’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050.

Vietnam has issued many key policies to support semiconductor development, notably the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation. Other initiatives include the Semiconductor Industry Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050, and the Human Resources Development Programme for the Semiconductor Industry.
