BinhDinh (VNA) -  The “Asia-Europe-PacificSchool of High Energy Physics” was launched at the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science andEducation (ICISE) in Quy Nhon city, the central province of Binh Dinh onSeptember 13.

The biennial event is held alternately in countries in the Asia Pacific region by European Organisation for NuclearResearch (CERN) for young physicists and scientific researchers inEurope and Asia-Pacific.

Thisis the 4th event of its kind held in the world and the first in Vietnam. It attracts 177 scientists from 31 countries, including eight Vietnamese ones.

It gives young physicists the opportunity to learn about recent advances inbasic particle physics from the world's leading researchers.

The training course also aims to promote exchanges and experience sharing amongyoung researchers in Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Nick Ellis from the CERN said the organisation of such event in differentcountries aims to bring scientific and physical knowledge to as many countriesas possible.

Vietnamwas chosen to host the event as the CERN saw the passion for study and researchof young scientists in the country, he said.

This year’s school features aspects of field theory and standard model ofelectroweak interaction, quantum dynamics and neutrino physics, among others.

The event will run until September 25.-VNA
