Scholarships presented to ethnic students in Dak Lak

Dak Lak (VNA) –𓆏 Some 120 scholarships of the VuA Dinh Scholarship Fund were presented to disadvantaged students in ethnicminority-inhabited areas in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak onJanuary 10.

The assistance includes 90 scholarships worth 1 millionVND (44 USD) each and 30 others of 1.5 million VND each. Addressing the ceremony, former Vice State President andChairwoman of the Vu A Dinh scholarship fund Truong My Hoa expressed her hopethat the recipients will continue to study hard and exert efforts so as tosurmount difficulties. Dak Lak is a multicultural province which is home to 49ethnic groups. There are approximately 159,600 ethnic students, or about 25percent of the total, enrolling from kindergarten to high school in theprovince during the 2020 – 2021 academic year. Ethnic minorities present around15 percent of close to 11,000 students pursuing study at universities andcolleges across the province. After 21 years of operation, the Vu A Dinh fund presentedmore than 90,000 scholarships to students from ethnic minority groups and thoseliving in coastal areas and on islands./.

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
