Scholarships given to female students in Ben Tre

Ben Tre (VNA) – The Ben TreWomen’s Association, on October 2, presented 200 Nguyen Thi Dinh scholarshipsfor outstanding female students across the Mekong Delta province.

The total value of these scholarshipsexceeded 200 million VND (8,800 USD).

The Nguyen Thi Dinh scholarship hasannually been awarded to local female students at the beginning of a schoolyear since 1996. Its recipients have to date amounted to more than 4,000.

Sponsored by the German organisation KinderhilfeHyvong Vietnam eV, the fund aims at helping disadvantaged learners to pursuiteducation.

Ingrid Sperling, head of the organisation,said her agency will continue backing the fund in hope of no girls quittingschools due to financial difficulties.-VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
