Seoul (VNA) – A delegation of the VuA Dinh scholarship fund, led by the fund’s Chairwoman and former Vice Presidentof Vietnam Truong My Hoa, paid a visit to the Embassy of Vietnam in theRepublic of Korea (RoK) on April 5.

At the meeting, Vietnamese AmbassadorNguyen Vu Tu briefed his guests on the sound relations between Vietnam and theRoK since the two nations first set up diplomatic ties in 1992.

For her part, Hoa, also Chairwoman of the“For Beloved Hoang Sa, Truong Sa” club, said the Vu A Dinh scholarship fund wasset up to support disadvantaged students in island areas and ethnic groups, consideringthe importance of facilitating children’s studies, especially for those whoreside in remote and mountainous regions.

Since the fund’s establishment in March1999, it has presented 5,000 scholarships each year to children living inmountainous and island areas, she noted.

She took the occasion to hand over membershipcards to three new members of the “For Beloved Hoang Sa, Truong Sa” club,raising the club’s membership in the RoK to 17 out of the total 90 overseasmembers.

New member Kim Won-mi said she joined theclub with the wish to support underprivileged students in Vietnamese islandsand gain more information about the country’s sea and islands to introduce toRoK friends. –VNA

Running from August 4 to September 2, under the hashtag #TuHaoVietNam, the campaign invites participants in two categories: “I Love My Country” video clips and “I Love My Country” check-in photos.

With a tight 13-month deadline, the move is under a strategic and urgent policy to bridge educational gaps, train the local workforce, and shore up territorial sovereignty in some of the country’s most remote areas.
