After its formation 19 years ago, Ho Chi Minh City's water supply system has increased in size by 500%, reaching nearly 11,000km.

Digital transformation has become a critical need for technical infrastructure enterprises to survive in the fourth industrial revolution, especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic, speakers said at a recent seminar in Ho Chi Minh City.

The quality of tap water in Ho Chi Minh City is being closely monitored by production and distribution units as well as independent agencies such as the city’s Preventive Medicine Centre and district-level preventive health centres.

Ho Chi Minh City highly values the role played by advanced technologies of foreign countries, including Japan, in the city’s development, said Le Thanh Liem, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee.

A water supply development programme, including 11 projects invested by Saigon Water Corporation (Sawaco), will be implemented in HCM City to supply clean water for all households.

The Sai Gon Water Corporation (Sawaco) has submitted a funding proposal to build underground water tanks that will replace seven unused water towers in HCM City.

Authorities in HCM City’s outlying districts plan to cooperate with local water supply companies to lay pipes to achieve their target of supplying clean water to all households by the end of this year

The Sai Gon Water Corporation (SAWACO) increased the number of households in Ho Chi Minh City with access to clean water to 1.6 million by the end of last year, equivalent to 87.9 percent.

The Saigon Water Supply Corporation (SAWACO) put the Thu Duc Water Plant, phase III, into operation on August 21 in Ho Chi Minh City.
