Samsung builds school for poor students in Thai Nguyen
About 300 poor elementary and secondary school students in the northern mountainous province of Thai Nguyen will have a new school named Samsung Hope School which was inaugurated on June 26.

The school was opened by Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) incollaboration with the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association in Thai Nguyen andKorea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI).
The school, with aninvestment of 22 billion VND (950,000 USD), has been built with the hope ofbringing comprehensive childhood development activities to children in the province.
SEV Thai Nguyensponsored 500,000 USD, which includes the entire construction cost and theoperating cost for the first year. The rest of the operating budget will becollected through sponsorship from charity organisations, donors and SEV.
The project is part ofSamsung’s efforts to develop the province’s young generation. It also serves asan appreciation campaign for locals in areas where Samsung’s factory operates.
The school has beenbuilt with modern equipment and will create a harmonious learning system,consisting of classes (arts, music, information technology and languages),library, playground, cafeteria and washrooms. Extra-curricular activities, suchas interaction, healthcare and charity, will also be offered. By participatingin Samsung Hope School programmes, the province’s 300 students will benefitfrom a complete educational environment, combining studies with hands-onlearning as well as play.
Speaking at the ceremony,SEV’s General Director Shim Won Hwan said in addition to investing in businessprojects in Vietnam, Samsung has always paid attention to its social corporateresponsibilities.
“We expect to bring thebest to the Vietnamese people, particularly to those in Thai Nguyen, helpingstudents achieve their dreams,” he said.
The project is thesecond of its kind in Vietnam to be sponsored entirely by Samsung. In 2013, thefirst Samsung Hope School worth 300,000 USD funded by donations from SamsungElectronics Korea employees, was inaugurated in the Red River Delta province ofBac Ninh, providing education to 200 students from the elementary level to highschool.
