Russia’s October Revolution anniversary marked in HCM City

The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) on November 5 held a get-together to mark the 102nd anniversary of the Russian October Revolution (November 7, 1917 – 2019).

HCM City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City Union ofFriendship Organisations (HUFO) on November 5 held a get-together to mark the102nd anniversary of the Russian October Revolution (November 7,1917 – 2019).

Speaking at the gathering, Hoang Minh Nhan, President of theVietnam-Russia Friendship Association (VRFA) in Ho Chi Minh City, recalled thehistorical significance of the revolution.

The event had a special meaning to Vietnam’s development, hesaid, adding that it laid the foundation for the sound traditional friendshipbetween Vietnam and Russia, which has been developed over time via high-levelmeetings and collaboration in all fields.

Nhan took the occasion to highlight his association’scommitment to preserving and developing these ties.

Alexey Vladimirovich Popov, Russian Consul General to HCMCity, said the October Revolution marked the start of the solidarity andfriendship between the Soviet Union and Vietnam, which was inherited anddeveloped by Russia. The two countries’ current comprehensive strategicpartnership is being fostered by their leaders and people across politics, the socio-economy,culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

Praising the municipal VRFA’s contributions to mutualunderstanding as well as traditional friendship and solidarity, he said theConsulate General wants to strengthen cooperation activities, particularlypeople-to-people exchanges, with the association./.
