Thai Binh (VNA) – A Korean-funded proꦉject on restoring and sustaining mangrove forests in the northern province of Thai Binh was launched at a workshop on March 18.
The project costs more than 2 million USD, with 1.9 million USD coming from the Republic of Korea ’s Government.
Between now and 2024, it will plant 160 hectares of new mangrove trees and look after 800 hectares of existing forests across four coastal communes in Thai Thuy and Tien Hai districts.
Local personnel will be trained in the country and aboard, while several seminars, workshops and awareness-raising campaigns will be organised. The project will also invest in necessary equipment, including cars, motorboats and field glasses.
Thai Binh is a coastal province with 54 km of sea dykes and five river mouths.
