Revised planning for Chu Lai open economic zone approved

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved the revised master plan for the development of Chu Lai Open Economic Zone in the central province of Quang Nam to 2035 with a vision to 2050.

Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved therevised master plan for the development of Chu Lai Open Economic Zone in thecentral province of Quang Nam to 2035 with a vision to 2050.

Under the planning, the zone will become a multisectoral maritimeeconomic zone, a hub for the central key economic region.

It will become an urban area and a centre for automobile industry andsupport industries for automobile and aviation sectors, gas-power andpetrochemical industries as well as high-tech industries.

The garment-textile industry and related support industries will also bedeveloped in the zone.

In addition, the zone will be a hub for organic and high-techagriculture as well as a tourism-service centre with close connections with ChuLai airport and the Chu Lai-Ky Ha port system.

The zone is expected to become an international transit hub, servinginternational trade and exchange activities of the central and CentralHighlands regions, and as a gateway to the East Sea of the Central Highlands ofVietnam, the south of Laos and the northeastern regions of Cambodia andThailand.

By 2025, the zone’s area for industry is set to hit 3,000 hectares, alongwith 5,000 hectares for urban, tourism and service areas. The areas will be expandedto about 5,010 hectares and about 7,000 hectares, respectively, in 2035.

Chu Lai open economic zone is designed to become a logistics service hubof the region with close connectivity with Chu Lai-Ky Ha port system, making itattractive to investors.

The zone will prioritise the development of environmental-friendlyindustries.

The administrative centre of the zone will be connected to the administrativecentre of Tam Ky district.-VNA
