Resolutions related to Long Thanh airport, HCM City approved
The 14th National Assembly (NA) has adopted a resolution on a feasibility study report on a land project for the building of Long Thanh International Airport and a resolution on piloting specific mechanisms and policies for Ho Chi Minh City’s development.

Hanoi (VNA) –The 14th National Assembly (NA) has adopted a resolution on a feasibility studyreport on a land project for the building of Long Thanh International Airportand a resolution on piloting specific mechanisms and policies for Ho Chi MinhCity’s development.
On November 24, 91.45 percent of the NA deputiesvoted for the resolution on a feasibility study report on a land seizure,compensation, support, and resettlement project for the construction of LongThanh airport in southern Dong Nai province.
This resolution approved some targets set in thefeasibility study report. Accordingly, the project will have total investmentof 22.938 trillion VND (over 1 billion USD) while nearly 4,400ha of land willbe revoked. The land seizure, compensation, support, and resettlement will becarried out in one time and finish by 2021.
In the resolution, the parliament assigns theGovernment to stipulate financial support level for families whose income willbe affected by the construction, and this support level must be in harmony withthat of previous projects implemented in the locality.
Meanwhile, the Government will assign the DongNai provincial People’s Committee to manage and use the seized land pending thebuilding of the airport’s infrastructure.
The provincial administration is responsible forreturning the seized land according to the project’s progress whileprioritising land provision for households and persons whose agricultural landis revoked, according to the resolution.
Later on November 24, with 93.69 percent of thelegislators voting yes, the parliament adopted the resolution on pilotingspecific mechanisms and policies for the development of Ho Chi Minh City.
The resolution regulates the piloting ofspecific mechanisms and policies on land management, investment, and finance –State budget. It also covers the mechanism on delegating power amongadministration levels and the income of officials, public employees and civilservants managed by the city’s authorities.
These particular mechanisms and policies areapplied to State agencies, political organisations, socio-politicalorganisations, socio-political and professional organisations, social organisations,socio-professional organisations, and other relevant organisations and persons.
This resolution will take effect on January 15,2018. The Government will have to report on the resolution implementation atthe NA’s sessions in late 2020 and late 2022.-VNA
