‘Red Rain’ surpasses 150 billion VND at box office
Film Mua Do (Red Rain) has grossed more than 150 billion VND in ticket sales, setting a new benchmark for a historical, revolutionary war film in Vietnam.

Hanoi (VNA) 🌊– Film Mua Do (Red Rain) has grossed more than 150 billion VND in ticket sales, setting a new benchmark for a historical, revolutionary war film in Vietnam.
According to figures from Box Office Vietnam, the film had earned 159.167 billion VND (over 6 million USD) as of 10 am on August 27.
Earlier, film Dia dao: Mat troi trong bong toi (Tunnel: Sun in the Dark) had created a box-office sensation with revenue of about 172 billion VND, a figure considered remarkable for a war-themed production. However, industry watchers expect Red Rain to surpass this record soon.
The film became the first revolutionary war title to break the 100 billion VND barrier in just four days, before topping 150 billion VND on its sixth day in cinemas.
Inspired by the 81-day battle at Quang Tri Citadel, Mua Do was produced by the People’s Army Cinema and directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen. It is the third revolutionary war-themed production to secure a nationwide release, following the experimental Dao, Pho and Piano in early 2024 and Dia dao: Mat troi trong bong toi, released to mark the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - 2025).
Featuring a largely young cast, including several debut performers, the film has been lauded for its emotional impact on audiences. At present, Mua Do holds the highest number of screenings across the country./.
Thousands of people lined the streets, waving flags and singing in unison. All eyes turned to the convoy and marching formations in a proud welcome to the soldiers.
The films will serve to educate the public, particularly younger generations, about Vietnam’s revolutionary history, instill pride in national unity, and inspire civic responsibility towards safeguarding the nation’s future.
Vietnam welcomes some 4-5 million Chinese visitors annually. In the first eight months of this year, Vietnam hosted more than 3.5 million Chinese. Vietnamese travellers, meanwhile, are increasingly drawn to China’s cultural and natural attractions.
On the evening of September 15 (local time), Algerian audiences enjoyed the Vietnamese film “Dao, Pho va Piano” (Peach Blossom, Pho and Piano). Vietnam was invited as the guest of honour at this year’s festival. In addition to the feature film, the country also introduced the documentary “Dien Bien: Land and People” and another featuring the 1954 Dien Bien Phu Victory for competition at the event.
Divided into three chapters with dozens of meticulously staged performances, the programme created a vibrant and emotionally rich atmosphere. The blend of tradition and modernity, powerful voices, and the solemn resonance of the symphony orchestra gave the show its distinctive hallmark.
The photo collection, which features typical landmarks and landscapes as well as the culture and lifestyle of Da Nang people, aims to introduce the image of Vietnam's central city to Korean friends.
Held on September 13-14, ManiFiesta – the annual festival of solidarity organised by the Workers' Party of Belgium – drew tens of thousands of participants from across Belgium and neighbouring countries.
