Binh Dinh (VNA)
- The scientificconference “EDS Blois 2019 on elastic and diffractive scattering” kicked off onJune 24 at the International Centre of Interdisciplinary Science Education (ICISE) in QuyNhon city, the central province of Binh Dinh, attracting 54 scientists from 17countries and territories around the world.

EDS is elastic and diffractive scattering is a specialized field in particlephysics research, which not many scientists in the world study.

Initiated in 1985 in Blois town of France, the event of this kind is organised everytwo years in many parts of the world with the official name of EDS Blois.

This is the second time the conference has been held in Quy Nhon - a city that isstriving to become the first scientific city of Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

Research topics at EDS Blois 2019 focus on elastic scattering and totalscattering cross section; regional and central diffraction; heavy ions;distribution of parton and processes with hadron finalstates; generalized parton distributions; spin in physics; recenttheoretical developments among others.

The 18th event will last untilJune 29.-VNA

🍬 Vietnam launches six 4.0 technology training and talent networks

The networks bring together universities, research institutes and domestic and foreign businesses. Members will work closely in training, research, and technology transfer by sharing curricula, improving faculty capacity, providing access to laboratories and research facilities, and jointly implementing science and technology projects.

Vietnam is actively yet cautiously preparing for the construction of its first nuclear power plant in Ninh Thuan (now the south-central coastal province of Khanh Hoa). The resumption of the programme after years of suspension carries considerable significance for the nation’s development in a new era as it strives to gradually reduce and ultimately phase out coal-fired power to realise the Government’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050.
