Quang Tri holds funeral for fallen combatants’ remains

The central province of Quang Tri on September 5 held a reburial service for the remains of 74 Vietnamese soldiers who are believed to have been killed during the war against the US in 1968.

Their remains were reburied at the province’s Road 9 National Martyrs Cemetery.

On August 31, 2010, a farmer in Tan Phu hamlet, Cam Thanh commune,Cam Lo district, while planting rubber trees in his garden, discovered amass grave containing the remains.

Based onpersonal belongings including watches, short buttons and hammocks,unearthed from the grave and other sources of information, the remainsmay be of those among 158 soldiers who laid down their lives in the Road9-Khe Sanh battlefields on January 27, 1968./.
