Quang Ninh (VNA) – A ceremony was heldon March 7 to mark the customs clearance of goods transported via a floatingbridge linking Mong Cai city in Vietnam’s Quang Ninh province and Dongxing cityof China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The floating bridge crossing the Ka Long River,the first of its kind connecting the two cities, was inaugurated on December 1,2017. 

Invested with nearly 160 billion VND (over 7million USD), the two-lane bridge is 114 metres long and 12 metres wide and hasa load capacity of 60 tonnes. It is part of the infrastructure of Mong Cai andDongxing border gates.

It is hoped to play an important role in facilitatinggoods export and import via these ports of entry and addressing the overload ofgoods transported via the Ka Long River.

The facility is also expected to improve thecompetitiveness of the two border gates compared to other pairs of border gatesalong the Vietnam-China border.

Quang Ninh is a coastal province in thenortheast of Vietnam. It shares a 132.8km land border with Fangcheng districtand Dongxing city of China’s Guangxi province.-VNA
