Quang Ninh authorities welcome Hungarian NA Speaker

Quang Ninh (VNA) - Vice Secretary of the Quang Ninh provincial Party Committee Vu Hong Thanh greeted Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Kover Laszlo on November 10 during the latter’s tour of Ha Long Bay. He highlighted the local tourism potential, saying the province is rallying resources and expects to receive Hungary’s assistance in tapping its strengths in the field. Thanh also appreciated Hungary’s support to Vietnam in training officials and engineers as well as devising a master plan for Ha Long city and Ha Long Bay – a world natural wonder in particular.
Laszlo thanked the local authorities for their hospitality during his tour of Ha Long Bay, adding that Hungary wants to extend ties with countries beyond the European Union, including Vietnam. Hungary annually provides scholarships for 100 Vietnamese students, he said. The guest also wished that the Quang Ninh economy would go a long way on the back of its tourism sector which he said, is a driver of sustainable economic development.
The Hungarian National Assembly Speaker arrived in Hanoi on November 8, beginning his six-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung. During the visit, he planned to visit historical, cultural and tourism sites in Hanoi, northern Quang Ninh province, central Da Nang city, the central province of Quang Nam and Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam and Hungary set up their diplomatic ties on February 3, 1950. Two-way trade reached 176 million USD in 2014, a year-on-year rise of 19 percent.-VNA
